Liquidation Pallet Grading & Conditions — What Every Buyer Should Know

Understanding condition grading is crucial for calculating your potential profit on any liquidation purchase. Different conditions have dramatically different resale values, and knowing what each grade means helps you buy smarter and price more accurately.

Condition Grades Explained

New / Overstock

What it means: Brand-new, factory-sealed merchandise that was never sold or returned. Excess inventory cleared from Best Buy shelves.

  • Condition: Perfect — new in box, sealed
  • Expected sell-through: 95-100%
  • Resale value: 60-85% of retail
  • Best for: Amazon FBA (list as "New"), premium eBay listings

Shelf Pulls

What it means: Items removed from store shelves but never sold to a customer. May have opened packaging from display.

  • Condition: New or like-new, may have minor packaging wear
  • Expected sell-through: 90-95%
  • Resale value: 50-75% of retail
  • Best for: Amazon FBA (if still sealed), eBay, Facebook Marketplace

Customer Returns — Grade A

What it means: Returned by customer, tested and verified working. Minor or no cosmetic damage.

  • Condition: Working, may have minor cosmetic wear, may be missing accessories
  • Expected sell-through: 80-90%
  • Resale value: 40-65% of retail
  • Best for: eBay, Facebook Marketplace, Amazon Renewed

Customer Returns — Grade B

What it means: Returned by customer, may or may not have been tested. Moderate cosmetic wear possible.

  • Condition: Likely working but needs testing, visible wear or missing parts possible
  • Expected sell-through: 60-75%
  • Resale value: 25-45% of retail
  • Best for: eBay, flea markets, bulk resale

Salvage

What it means: Items with known damage, defects, or missing components. Sold as-is for parts or repair.

  • Condition: Non-functional or significantly damaged
  • Expected sell-through: 30-50% (parts value)
  • Resale value: 5-20% of retail
  • Best for: eBay parts listings, repair technicians, recycling

How Upscaled Distribution Grades Inventory

Our manifests include condition information for each item based on Best Buy's return classification. We primarily sell Grade A and Grade B customer returns, plus overstock and shelf pulls. Every item's condition is listed on the manifest so you can make informed buying decisions.
